Other construction companies\u2014including <strong>Lotte, Daewoo, and Hoban<\/strong>\u2014are also joining this trend by establishing <strong>dedicated departments for in-house ventures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 12th, GS E&amp;C announced that <strong>\u201cZero Next Materials,\u201d<\/strong> an eco-friendly construction materials company established as an in-house venture, has been <strong>spun off as an independent corporation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zero Next Materials is <strong>GS E&amp;C\u2019s second in-house venture<\/strong> and was founded under the leadership of <strong>CEO Jong-hyun Ryu<\/strong>, a Ph.D. in civil engineering with over <strong>20 years of experience<\/strong> researching construction materials within the company. The startup specializes in <strong>eco-friendly construction materials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company has achieved tangible results by developing <strong>\u201cmortar grout,\u201d<\/strong> a <strong>low-carbon, eco-friendly construction product<\/strong> that replaces <strong>more than 80% of cement<\/strong> used in grout by combining <strong>steelmaking slag<\/strong>\u2014a largely discarded byproduct from steel plants\u2014with chemical additives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting as an in-house venture team, Zero Next Materials conducted <strong>more than 130 experiments over approximately one year<\/strong> from the initial idea stage.
