Twenty Startups Gather to Present Sustainable Urban Solutions
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) announced on the 25th that it held the “Citypreneurs 2025 Ulsan” Demo Day on the theme of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inclusive future cities at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) on the 24th.
The event was co-hosted by Ulsan Metropolitan City, UNIST, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and WFUNA, with sponsorship from the Korea-Africa Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This year, 60 startups from 19 countries applied, and 20 teams from six countries were selected to advance to the final demo day.
From April, participants spent six weeks developing their solutions through programs covering:
- Ulsan’s urban innovation and industry–academia collaboration cases,
- SDGs contribution strategies and ESG approaches,
- Global market entry strategies, and
- Investment and mentoring programs.
In addition to the startups, the event drew around 100 attendees, including representatives from the organizing institutions, local startup support organizations in Ulsan, venture capital firms, and a global mentor group.
The Grand Prize was awarded to EOMTech (CEO Young-jun Park) for its high-emissivity transparent film technology, which simultaneously enhances building energy efficiency, crop productivity, and electric vehicle performance.
The Excellence Awards were jointly presented to MarinaChain (CEO Sung-yeop Ha) for its AI-based maritime logistics carbon accounting system, and Soteria Eight (CEO Jong-deok Park) for developing an autonomous exploration robot…
