- POSCO Takes the Lead in Building a Venture Ecosystem through Its Shared Growth Programs
- EOMTech Successfully Develops Construction and Civil Engineering Materials Using Slag and Waste Plastics
- POSCO Provides Full Support to EOMTech, Including Market Access and Business Matching
Since declaring “Corporate Citizenship that grows together with society” as its management philosophy, POSCO has continuously promoted shared-growth initiatives in close cooperation with its partner companies.
As part of its eight key shared-growth programs, POSCO supports venture incubation and development by operating ChangeUP Ground, the largest startup incubation space outside the Seoul metropolitan area, and by hosting idea marketplace events to help venture companies attract investment, among various other initiatives.
In line with its flagship shared-growth programs, POSCO is steadily expanding the scope and targets of business matching.
Young-jun Park, CEO of EOMTech, came up with the idea of making productive use of waste plastics combined with slag, a byproduct left after producing molten iron at steel plants, while working as a researcher at POSCO’s Technical Research Laboratories.
CEO Park explained,
“Korea generates 88 kilograms of plastic waste per person per year, making it the third-largest plastic waste producer in the world, after the United States and the United Kingdom. Whenever I encountered environmental pollution issues caused by waste plastics, I kept thinking about how to solve them by combining them with steelmaking technologies. Based on my experience in slag technology development and steel construction material solution marketing, I found the courage to start a venture business.”
